A kayaker has died after getting trapped under a tree on a river in Dartmoor.
The man was with a group of four others on the River Dart between Dartmeet and Newbridge in Devon when he got trapped, park rangers said.
Part of the river has been closed off while the emergency services recover the body.
Rob Steemson, a Dartmoor National Park ranger, said the river was “roaring” when the man died.
“The river obviously rises and falls quite quickly,” he said.
“With the heavy winds as well, quite a few trees have come down overnight and unfortunately that’s what’s trapped this person.”
Police, ambulance, fire service and mountain rescue are all at the scene, which is a popular area for kayaking.
